The British government’s goal of converting product labelling for placing goods on the market to its own UKCA marking as part of the Brexit continues to progress very slowly. On 24 January 2024, the UK government announced an extension of the list of product groups with provisionally valid CE markings through further regulations.
The recently added, temporarily approved product groups include:
- RoHS – Hazardous substances in electrical and electronic devices
- Explosives
- Ecodesign
On the official website of the British government is a detailed list of the product groups affected by this and previous announcements with a valid CE labelling until further notice. A list of sectors that will only require UKCA labelling in future, such as construction materials or medical devices, can also be found in the press release.
The transition period set for the switchover of the product labels, is 31 December 2024.
