The additional tariffs on steel and aluminum products from the USA are to be suspended until March 31, 2025. The European Union and the United States agreed on this in mid-December.
Specifically, the trade policy measures of Implementing Regulations (EU) 2018/886 of June 2018 and (EU) 2020/502 of April 2020 will be suspended. The suspension was laid down in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2882.
The extension of the suspension means significant financial relief for companies from both the USA and the EU. Both parties remain in close contact to find solutions to global overcapacity and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the production of aluminum and steel. At the same time, an agreement on sustainable steel and aluminum is being worked on.
