Caused by the forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk, an extension of the sanctions against Belarus is to be expected.
The Federal Office of Economics and Technology (BAFA) announced today:
“Due to current events, it is pointed out that the direct and indirect provision of technical assistance in connection with military equipment is prohibited under Article 1b of Regulation (EC) No 765/2006. This also includes maintenance and repair measures on Belarusian aircraft, insofar as these are to be regarded as military equipment due to their equipment.
In addition, it cannot be ruled out that the provision of maintenance and repair services to the Belarusian airline Belavia would be assessed by the criminal and investigative authorities as a prohibited indirect provision of economic resources pursuant to Article 2 (2) of Regulation (EC) No. 765/2006.
As soon as any changes to the sanctions are known, they will be published immediately on BAFA’s website.”
