Great Britain will introduce new import controls. These will be grouped together under the “Border Target Operating Model”. A draft was already published at the beginning of April 2023. Until the new requirements come into force at the end of October, companies can comment on the draft in an online survey.

The new import requirements are to become legally binding in a staggered manner. First, on Oct. 31, 2023, new export health certificates and phytosanitary certificates will be introduced, which will apply to medium-risk animal as well as plant products.

On January 31, 2024, documentary checks and inspections at the border will follow for these products. Finally, safety declarations will be required for EU imports on October 31, 2024.

Feedback on the Border Target Operating Model is currently being accepted via online survey.
