The United Kingdom has announced a slight change to the “Immigration Rules”. These affect both entry and visa requirements.

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

An ETA will soon be required when entering the United Kingdom. The Electronic Travel Authorization Scheme will apply to Qatari nationals from November 2023. After that, it will gradually be extended to other countries. Germany is also likely to be one of them.

The ETA must then always be applied for if a visa is not required. It allows a stay in the United Kingdom of up to six months as well as transit. Multiple entries and exits within two years will also be possible. The ETA is applied for online via smartphone and can be accessed there.

New visa

Additionally, on April 13, 2023, the United Kingdom will introduce a new visa, the Innovator Founder visa. This will replace the Innovator Visa and the Start-up Visa. One major difference from the previous versions: Start-up capital of 50,000 GBP is no longer required to obtain the visa.

Furthermore, the earnings limit for the „Skilled Worker“ visa has been raised slightly to 26,200 GBP. The minimum salary for the “Global Business Mobility” visa has also increased from GBP 42,200 to GBP 45,800.
