The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) are launching measures to speed up and optimize export controls. General Licenses (AGG) are being updated for this purpose. At the same time, the BAFA will be given additional decision-making powers, while exporters will no longer be required to notify the authorities in certain cases.
More acceptance for controls
On the one hand, the measures are intended to enable licenses to be issued more quickly and, on the other, to increase acceptance of export controls. “The lengthy export control procedures – caused by the necessary sanctions and measures to combat the energy crisis – must be shortened again,” says Sven Giegold, State Secretary at the BMWK.
Affected AGGs
The measures affect a number of general licenses, such as numbers 19, 23, 25, 26 and 33 in the area of armaments and general licenses numbers 13, 14, 17 and 37 in the area of dual-use goods.
