From June 1, 2023, it will be much easier to apply for a patent that is valid throughout the EU. This is made possible by the new patent system, which has now also been ratified by Germany.

Advantages of the new patent system
Under the new patent system, one patent application is sufficient to obtain uniform patent protection in all participating EU member states. The application only has to be filed with the European Patent Office.
Exception: Spain and Croatia
When the new patent law comes into force on June 1, 2023, it will apply in 17 EU member states. Another eight countries are also participating and will join. Only Spain and Croatia are not participating.
