From 1st Oct. 2021, prior declarations and health certificates were to be a prerequisite for the import of certain foodstuffs of animal origin into the UK. From 1st Jan. 2022, safety declarations should also apply to all imports. These and other post-Brexit transition periods have now been postponed again. On 14th Sept.2021, the UK announced that the timetable for the gradual implementation of customs regulations and customs controls for imports from the EU would be postponed further, to 1st. Jan. 2022 or 1st July 20222. Among other things, imports of food of animal origin are also affected by the postponement.
