The figures from the Federal Statistical Office (DESTATIS) show an increase despite the current challenges on the world market. Compared to the previous month, German exports increased by 1.6 percent, reports the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), among others.

DIHK foreign trade chief, Volker Treier, does not expect any further increase in the coming months. On the contrary: Germany expects a “cold export winter”. His assessment thus agrees with that of the World Trade Organization (WTO). They also expect the Ukraine war and climate change to have a significant impact on German exports. The growth forecast for 2023 was revised down from 3.4 percent to 1.0 percent.
