The U.S. plans to further expand exports to Panama and other South American countries. The Office of Agricultural Affairs is responding to an application from U.S. exporters requesting a trade mission to Panama.
Panama as a hub for U.S. exports in South America
Through Panama, the U.S. wants to increase its exports throughout the region. This includes Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. The trade mission to Panama is scheduled for late March 2023. The goal of the trip, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is to study the local market and identify potential customers.
European exporters may find it more difficult to further expand trade with South American countries in the future.
It will be the U.S. department’s first trade mission in 2023, before trade missions to the Netherlands and Japan follow.
