From December 1, 2023, significantly higher toll rates will have to be paid for trucks weighing 7.5 tons or more. This was decided in the Bundestag on October 20. However, tolls will soon also be payable for lighter trucks.

Against the background of the carbon dioxide surcharge, the toll rates for trucks will be increased. In this way, the German government wants to send a price signal and promote the use of alternative drive systems. From July 1, 2024, the toll will also be extended to vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons. However, there are exceptions: Vehicles belonging to tradesmen are exempt from the toll.

Due to the toll increases, significant price increases for truck companies are to be expected.

An overview of the new rates can be found at Toll Collect.
