The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has introduced new export controls for critical technologies such as semiconductors, quantum computing and additive manufacturing (3D printing) products. Changes include new and revised Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) for quantum computing, semiconductors and advanced technologies, as well as the introduction of the Implemented Export Controls (IEC) licence exception for exports to countries with similar controls. The controls apply to quantum computers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, materials, software, technology and machinery for the production of high-performance computer chips and metal alloy components. European companies benefit from easier trade, but must adapt their supply chains and processes to international requirements.
