Ukraine wants to decentralise energy production. The import of required plant and equipment is being made easier. Favourable loans are to drive investment.
The Ukrainian parliament has decided to grant concessions for imports of important energy production equipment. Laws No. 11258 and 11259, adopted on 16 July 2024, provide those imports of a range of equipment, parts and components will be exempt from VAT and import duties. The provisions apply for the duration of martial law, but until 1 January 2026 at the latest.
Among other things the tax and duty exemption apply to:
- Steam turbines,
- water turbines and parts,
- gas turbines,
- electric motors and generators,
- inverters,
- certain lithium-ion batteries,
- solar panels,
- some equipment for wind turbines,
