The Carnet ATA (Temporary Admission of goods) is a document that is used for a temporarily import of goods. The process of border clearance with Carnet ATA is accelerated without any further declaration or documentation at the frontier itself. Even at the end of carriage no customs declaration is necessary. Neither taxes nor duties have to been paid as long as the merchandise will not be used and is only intended for re-export. A Carnet ATA only can be used for 75 contracting states and in following cases:

• Exhibition goods
• Product samples
• Professional equipment items as e.g. film, music group tour, news-press, tools…

The Federal Republic of Germany is a state party.
