The increase in customs duties primarily affects chemicals. However, higher tariffs also apply to car tyres, paper products and certain pipes.
Resolution GECEX No. 648 EN 14/10/2024
It amends Annex IX of Gecex Resolution No. 272/2021 and amending the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) and the Common External Tariff (TEC) to adapt to the changes in the Harmonised System (SH-2022).
Due to trade imbalances, the import duty rate was increased for a total of 42 products from various sectors. The measure applies to the following customs tariff numbers from 15 October 2024 to 14 October 2025
- 20.11, 2905.14.10, 2907.11.00, 2914.12.00, 2915.31.00, 2915.33.00, 2916.14.10, 2917.12.10 and 3402.39.90. The duty rates for these and other chemicals have been increased to between 12.6 and 20 per cent.
- – 4011.10.00. The duty rate for these new rubber tyres for passenger cars, including station wagons and racing cars, is now 25 percent.
- – 4810.19.99 and 4810.92.90. These paper products and cards are now subject to a duty rate of 16 per cent.
- – Tubes with the customs tariff numbers 7304.19.00 and 7306.19.00 are also affected by the duty increase. In this case, the duty rates for different periods have been increased to between 6 and 25 per cent. In addition, tariff quotas are provided for some of these tubes
