The new fee schedule also reduces the cost of imports and simplifies customs processing for internet orders.
The Saudi Arabian Customs and Tax Authority (ZATCA) has announced changes to the customs administration’s service fees. According to the announcement, they will take effect on 6 October 2024. The aim is to strengthen the competitiveness of Saudi Arabian exporters, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
Service fees for exports are cancelled
The fees for all customs administration services related to exports will be abolished. These include, for example, customs declarations, customs sealing, X-rays, taking and analysing samples in specialised laboratories and loading services at seaports.
New fee structure for imports
The service fees for imports are being restructured. The new service fee is 0.15% of the value of the goods, with a minimum of 15 Saudi Riyal (S.RI.) and a maximum of 500 S.RI. For example, the X-ray inspection of a container previously cost 100 S.RI. In addition, 100 S.RI. was charged for the exchange of information and 20 S.RI. for the customs declaration.
Since 6 October, the processing of duty-free and tax-free imports will cost 130 S.RI.
Flat rate for internet orders
In future, a lump sum of 15 S.RI. will be charged for customs processing of online purchases by private individuals. This regulation applies to shipments with a goods value of up to S.RI. 1,000. For shipments with a higher value of goods, the new fee structure for imports will be applied.
