The EU’s bilateral Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Kenya entered into force on 1 July 2024. Common rules of origin are still being negotiated. After being signed in December 2023, the EPA between the EU and Kenya entered into force on 1st July 2024. It guarantees Kenya’s exports (except arms) continued and now permanent duty-free and quota-free access to the European market. In return, Kenya will gradually liberalise its market in three stages over 25 years for a total of 82.6 percent of the value of imports from the EU. The tariff dismantling will begin seven years after the EPA enters into force on 1 July 2031
