Since the beginning of the year, a so-called “Free Marketing Declaration” is required for the import of goods. According to Algeria’s wishes, this is to be issued by the chambers of commerce (COC) and to declare that the goods are a free merchandise. For legal reasons the COC’s may not give such a declaration about goods of a chamber member, however. As a result, the COC’s have consulted the DIHK and published a solution not yet accepted by all Algerian banks. The solution is: the company itself makes the statement with pre-made wording and the responsible COC certifies this with their stamp.
We have a sample of the proposed text of the DIHK with this explanation in English and in French. Of course, we will gladly publish this on request.
