The European Commission has published a new version of the list of locations for which no customs preferences apply when importing goods from Israel<\/strong>. This list contains the current seven-digit postcodes<\/strong> and is relevant for all businesses importing Israeli originating goods into the EU.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The basis for this rule is the so-called Technical Arrangement<\/strong> between the EU and Israel<\/strong>. Specifically, goods produced in Israeli settlements located in the territories occupied by Israel since June 1967 (West Bank, Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and Golan Heights) are excluded from preferential tariff treatment. This means these products do not benefit from reduced customs duties when imported into the EU.<\/p>\n

Checks by customs authorities<\/strong><\/h5>\n

To enable customs authorities to carry out these checks, all proofs of preferential origin (e.g. EUR.1 movement certificate or origin declarations) must include the exact postcode and the name of the city, village or industrial zone where the processing conferring origin took place.<\/p>\n

It is therefore important for companies to check whether the place of production is on the current list before submitting the customs declaration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
