Instead of the EUR.1 movement certificate or invoice declarations, the exporters and importers can now use self-certification, based on <strong>statements on origin<\/strong> even for <strong>multiple shipments of identical products<\/strong>, or <strong>importer\u2019s knowledge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With the Interim Trade Agreement (ITA), published in the Official Journal (EU) L\/2024\/2953, these rules of origin (contained in Chapter 3) will enter into force on 1<sup>st<\/sup> February 2025.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From 1<sup>st<\/sup> February 2025 the following changes apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>EUR.1 movement certificates<\/strong> and the <strong>invoice declarations<\/strong> issued in accordance with the <strong>(old) EU-Chile Association Agreement<\/strong> <strong>will no longer be accepted as proof of preferential origin<\/strong> for the <strong>goods imported or released for free circulation<\/strong> in the European Union or Chile starting from 1<sup>st<\/sup> February 2025. From that date, the claims for preferential origin should be based on a <strong>statement on origin<\/strong> or <strong>importer\u2019s knowledge,<\/strong> as appropriate<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The claims for preferential origin for the <strong>products<\/strong> in <strong>transit<\/strong>, <strong>temporary storage<\/strong>, <strong>warehousing<\/strong> or in <strong>free zones<\/strong> on 1<sup>st<\/sup> February 2025 should be based on the <strong>statements on origin<\/strong>, as provided under ITA<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Approved Exporter numbers under the (old) Association Agreement are replaced by the <strong>REX number.<\/strong> Accordingly, the <strong>statements of origin <\/strong>for the EU originating products in consignments <strong>above 6000 Euro<\/strong> should contain the <strong>REX number<\/strong>.\u00a0EU exporters requiring a REX number can find out where to apply <a href=\"https:\/\/taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu\/document\/download\/3455d171-966d-4e6e-885a-8523795e5782_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu\/news\/eu-chile-interim-trade-agreement-ita-will-enter-force-1-february-2025-2025-01-06_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU-Chile Interim Trade Agreement (ITA) will enter into force on 1st February 2025 &#8211; European Commission<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/agree_internation\/2024\/2953\/oj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interim Agreement<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Source Newsletter International Issue 1\/January 2025 (DIHK)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ITA introduces a simpler approach to establishing preferential origin.
