Time has come –\u00a0 from January 2023 the transition period for the switch from CE to UKCA will expire. The European product marking CE will no longer be recognized in Great Britain from the new year.<\/p>\n

UKCA stands for “UK Conformity Assessed” and will replace the CE marking on products that are to be sold in Great Britain. For European exporters and companies, this means a change that can be associated with challenges. To ensure that the changeover runs as smoothly as possible, the British government recently decided on simplifications.<\/p>\n

The British Government decided on simplifications regarding the new product marking.<\/p><\/div>\n

This means that products that are still going through the conformity assessment this year do not have to be tested again. Also, manufacturers will be able to affix the UKCA mark in the new year without incurring any additional re-testing costs.<\/p>\n

In addition, goods that are already in the country by the end of the year do not have to be relabeled. The UKCA marking for spare parts of UKCA compliant products will be dropped. It will also be possible to affix the UKCA marking to goods only on accompanying documents or labels. Finally, the UK government has decided to continue to accept the old certification of some components, such as radiators, sealants and tile adhesives.<\/p>\n

However, the simplifications mentioned do not apply to the following product groups:<\/p>\n

Medical and construction products, transportable pressure equipment, marine equipment, unmanned aerial systems, cableways and railway products.<\/p>\n
